Melissa is a 3rd year Engineering apprentice, currently working to complete her Level 3 apprenticeship as she prepares for her degree apprenticeship to start in September. Melissa has been an ambassador for both her training provider, MTC Apprenticeships, at the Advanced Manufacturing Training Centre (AMTC), and her current employer, GKN Automotive at the Innovation Centre in Abingdon. During these three years, she has worked on a wide variety of engineering projects and tasks to broaden her skills.

Engineering has not only helped Melissa boost her technical skills, but her soft skills as well. She has been involved in numerous STEM events to encourage other young people who are about to enter the working industry of the different opportunities out there and how there aren’t any limits or restrictions to what they can do.

Melissa was recognized by the WES board as one of the Top 50 Women in Engineering (WE50) for her dedication to her work. She also made it as a finalist for the Oxfordshire Apprenticeship Awards (OAA) in acknowledgement of her great achievements.
